AMERICA’S BALLROOM CHALLENGE Starts This Wednesday!

So psyched! This is my favorite of all the TV shows. And I didn’t make it to the Ohio Star Ball last November, so showcases and results will be a surprise for me too. The four-week show begins this Wednesday, PBS 9pm ET. Go here for more info and for local show-times.

  1. ug… Why… oh why… Not only am I at work (5-7) but I have other shows on Wednesday. I wish they'd post shows on site afterward…

I'm excited but I so wanna watch… *sigh*

  2. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Tonya, but it's just one 2 hour episode this year …

  3. That's weird, Parker. I wonder why they say “premieres” if it's only going to be on once. That's stupid. I guess I can see the showdances appearing better on TV than the general dances, when you don't get to know the couples, etc. So, I guess they're making a completely fake show, getting rid of all the parts that show what an actual competition is like. I guess PBS is becoming like a regular network. Lovely.

  4. They may be also doing it for budget reasons.

  5. I went to a preview and crew wrap party with the producer Aida Moreno at WGBH in Boston MA this past Sunday. I saw a promo and preview of the show on a big movie screen.
The program this year is condensed into one two-hour program not as 5 one hours segments as in past few years. My dance teacher Dan Radler and his wife Deirdre are doing a Waltz showcase this year.

  6. This year it is indeed just one show, however PBS always replays it multiple times.
