WINONA RYDER & NATALIE PORTMAN IN MOVIE BASED ON NYCB DANCER

Oh cool — apparently, Winona Ryder, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis are to star in a film called Black Swan, a thriller that follows the story of a fictitious NYCBallet dancer who may or may not be having delusions about a rival. All actresses play dancers with the company, and supposedly, there is some kind of “extreme” sex scene between Portman and Kunis. Hmmm… Can any of them dance, or will they have doubles to do the dancing, I wonder. Or will there actually be much dancing?

Directing is Darren Aronofsky, who last directed The Wrestler, and filming is expected to begin in New York next month, with a release date sometime in 2010.

Ugh... I know that I should be happy that ballet (and especially my beloved NYCB)
will even be mentioned in a Hollywood movie, but I find the whole thing
appalling. You just know that it'll be awful (although I do think that Portman can dance a bit, and has taken lessons for years). Plus, it sounds like it's going to give
both ballet and dancera a bad rap. My guess is that no one will see it anywat (as the plot just sounds too terrible). This sounds like a "straight to video" project.

I read somewhere (forgot where of course) that Ben Millepied is choreographing for this (hence why Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis were at ABT's fall gala?) -- can anyone confirm/deny?

Sophie, that's really interesting -- I haven't heard anything about Millepied choreographing but I'll definitely keep my ears open! Yeah, that would make sense why Natalie and Mila were at the gala...

Deborah, yeah, I thought the same thing at first (especially that part about the steamy sex scenes??...). But then I thought -- and maybe I'm just being naive -- but I thought well, there are so many good people involved in it, it can't be that bad. I hope not anyway...

My cousin, Kimberly Prosa, is playing the stunt double of Natalie Portman in this movie, I believe. I'm 99% sure this information is correct. I know that some people are saying this movie is going to be awful but Kimberly is a very talented young woman who has accomplished ALOT in her years and I'm very proud of her because I'm 31 years old and she's younger than me and has done sooo much with her life already. She's just doing what any other person would be doing to pursue her acting career. She's also a very talented dancer among other things. So please give her all the support that you can in her adventures with this (public and all). Because she's so busy with her many jobs, projects, and college, it's hard to speak with her so can you please try to give me a more exact date of when this movie will either be in theatres or released please? Thank you!!
