Pasha!

I don’t have much time to write because I need to head off to Alvin Ailey soon, but here are a few pictures I took last night of Pasha after the “Rhythm of Love” show. Very cute show, and review coming soon; if you’re anywhere near Stamford, Connecticut, it’s playing for one more night — tonight. Go here for tix.

Signing autographs for little fans. So cute! All these people were coming up to him afterward telling him how much they loved him and asking for autographs. Elaine (his former student, very sweet lady, in the blue sweater here) and I were teasing him about how we knew him way back when. He insists he’s not “famous” and nothing has changed a bit. And he definitely hasn’t changed — still same sweet guy who always has time for old friends…

Posing for picture with Elaine after the theater has pretty much cleared out. No pics of me because I have a nasty cold and know it can be devastating for dancers to get sick, so didn’t want to stand too close to him (not to mention, I look like absolute crap). It really sucked missing out on my hug though!

With Elaine again, in front of the theater. I always feel like crying whenever I say goodbye to him now…

  1. Its so nice to hear that he isn’t letting fame change him. I love that he has such a great head on his shoulders. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

  2. Thanks Tonya! Do you know if the performance was recorded at all? If so, do you know where it would be posted?

  3. ^^ I agree. He’s an amazing dancer and has handled his 15 minutes of fame better than many other reality competition tv stars have.

  4. Isn’t that the truth! Although, I’ve noticed that, in general, dancers seem to be more level headed about it all. The pros I’ve met from Dancing with the Stars are very down to earth as well. Edyta Sliwinska is almost to the point of being shy, she’s so quiet and unassuming. Her husband Alec has a way of making you feel like an old friend almost instantly. I wonder what it is about this profession that fosters that?

  5. Jimmy, I’ll ask the show’s organizers and see if they had it taped.

I know, you guys, now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever met a really arrogant, doesn’t-have-the-time-of-day-for-you dancer, on TV or otherwise, although I’m sure they exist somewhere… In general though, they generally don’t seem to be as bad as famous actors, or even some novelists I’ve met…

Thanks Sharon 🙂 Ugh, I’ve spent almost all day in bed… this fever will not go away, although it seems to be getting slightly better over time.

  6. Thanks Tonya! I really appreciate you asking. 🙂

  7. Tonya,

I wish I could pass some chicken soup through the internet for you, but I don’t think it will work. Maybe try that Zicam? I hear its supposed to help. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you, Merry Christmas!

  8. Tonya, I know this is going to sound crazy but I had a dream last night where I was discussing your blog with someone! That’s how significant it is! Ugh, it sucks that your ill during the holidays. Zicam isn’t a bad idea, but it’s merely zinc which is mostly meant to stop a cold at the beginning stages and sometimes is not that effective (I even heard a report that someone lost their sense of smell after using the Zicam swabs, eeks!), but Tylenol or Motrin will bring down your fever (I used to work in a pharmacy so I hope that helps!). Get well soon! Or as Demetri Martin says, “Get well NOW!”

  9. Hope you feel better soon Tonya. I’m so glad to hear that Pasha is a nice guy who isn’t letting his new found success change him. When he was on SYTYCD, I obviously thought he was gorgeous. But it was his sweet, goofy personality that really sealed the deal for me, very happy to find out that’s how he is in real life. You’re a lucky girl.

  10. Happy Holidays Tonya!

  11. Thanks for the well-wishes you guys! I really appreciate it 🙂 I am finally starting to feel a bit better. Salmeen, that’s really funny! I’m so flattered! Happy holidays to you too, Konagod — happy holidays to everyone!
