Former NYCB Dancer Sophie Flack Signs Her Debut Novel, BUNHEADS, at BEA
My apologies for my lack of blog posts this week. I spent Monday through Thursday at Book Expo America, the largest book industry trade fair in North America, held every year in NY at the Javits Center. (Nevertheless, I did manage to go to ABT’s night of premieres on Tuesday, which I’ll blog about soon.)…

Apparently the young ballroom dance duo, D’Angelo and Amanda, won the first Live to Dance championship last night. Coming in second place was the 11-year-old contemporary / jazz dancer, Kendall Glover, and placing third were the ballet pair, White Tree Fine Art. Thank you to reader Irina for emailing me about the show’s results!…

REMINDER: DANCE TIMES SQUARE SHOWCASE COMING UP
Next Monday evening, May 11th. See my earlier post for more info. Ridiculously, I won’t be able to make it; I’m going out of town and won’t be back yet. But I met a very nice guy, DJ McDonald, in the Facebook Dance Bloggers group and he’s going to cover it for me! I’m…

Dance Times Square Outing to Latin Quarter
Last night I went with Dance Times Square on their holiday party outing to the Latin Quarter, a salsa nightclub in midtown on the east side, near Grand Central. It was fun — I haven’t social danced in a really long time! Do think I might have hurt my knee though. How, I have…

The showdances are very similar…

Methinks Derek Hough Has a Crush on Yulia Zagoruychenko…
I had a law event tonight and got home half-way through the show (and am watching the rest now), but when I turned the TV on Derek and Brooke were doing their Salsa. But, hehe, this is the first thing I thought of: First Derek uses Max and Yulia’s song, now he ‘steals’ her fab…

Arunas Bizokas and Katusha Demidova will dance as well. Tickets range from $30 to $85 (for front row seating), but it looks like tkts on the cheaper end are selling out.…

I Love Cody Linley Beyond Words…
So this week, each contestant does two dances — one Standard, one Latin — and in the Latin routine each must do a 15-second solo. Hmmm. Cody & Edyta: Cody’s still dancing with Edyta. I hope Julianne is okay. They bring his (TV?) friends on to say how hot Edyta is, how cool their routine,…
