MAKS & KARINA & TABITHA & NAPOLEON ON TONIGHT'S EMMYS

Here’s the big dance number on tonight’s Emmys, choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance’s Tabitha and Napoleon, performed in part by Maks Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff from Dancing With the Stars. Nice to integrate the two main TV dance shows in this way. But, ah, where have I seen that costume before, Karina?…

Medarethinks Yulia moved that fringe a bit better. Although of course she had more time to dance. I do sometimes wonder if Karina were still competing today whether she’d beat Yulia.

  1. Hah! I recognized that outfit, too, because that is one of my favorite youtube dance numbers of all time.
Thanks for posting, because I didn't realize that MARK! was one of the dancers until after. It's so hard to identify any of the Quest crew/SYTYCD dancers because it's such a short number and the lighting and camera work make them faceless, but just knowing who all of them were was a thrill. I'm so happy that they are getting gigs like this.

  2. Oh thanks so much for pointing that out to me, Joanna! I didn't notice that!

  3. I really love Karina, but the fringed pants looks should be retired unless your name is Yulia.
I loved seeing Mark as well! I also recognized Katee and Joshua dancing together! My nerdy little heart was jumping for joy!

  4. Hehe, I love your remark about Yulia and the pants, Susan — perfectly said! Thanks for pointing out Katee and Josh too!

  5. Oh Karina would be the champion right now if she and Slavik had never split!

Fringe pants, Karen Hardy worked them first, but Yulia worked them the best, but I've been seeing Anna Melnikova do her thing in them a lot recently, I say go for it Karina!

  6. I agree, Slavik and Karina would be #1 right now if they hadn't split. If Karina came back though, I'm not sure if she would be able to beat Yulia.
